How it works
A look around first
The first visit is mostly about getting comfortable. Your child can see the room, meet the team and ask questions before anything is done.
Prevention while teeth are new
A gentle cleaning, then sealants on new back teeth to close off the grooves where decay starts. A remineralization varnish or fluoride follows, by your choice.
Treatment when it's needed
Fillings, extractions, pulp therapy and space maintainers are all done in the office, with clear aftercare for you to take home.

Frequently asked questions
Do you see children as well as adults?
Yes. Kids are seen in the same Shrewsbury office as the rest of the family. Call (717) 235-3871 and mention it's a first visit, so the appointment gets the extra time it needs.
What are dental sealants?
A sealant is a thin coating that seals the chewing surfaces and the pits and grooves of a tooth, so sugars and bacteria can't settle there. Sealants usually go on the back teeth soon after they come in.
Do you use fluoride?
It's your choice. Families who prefer a holistic approach can choose a remineralization varnish, and fluoride is offered to families who want it.
What is a space maintainer?
If a baby tooth comes out early, nearby teeth can drift into the gap. A space maintainer holds that space open for the permanent tooth. Normal eating can resume about an hour after it's fitted.
Do you take our insurance?
Southern York Smile Care is out of network with all insurers. You pay at the visit and the office files the claim for you. Payment plans are available through CareCredit and Cherry. See financing options.
