Do I need a night guard?
Most grinding happens during sleep. A sore jaw or a dull headache in the morning, worn or chipped teeth, or earaches can all be signs. A guard is also made for you after veneers, to protect them.
Caring for your guard and fillings
Wear your guard every night. Brush twice a day, floss daily and keep up with cleanings so your fillings last.

Protect the teeth you have
Grinding wears teeth down over the years, and worn teeth are costly to repair. Cavities left alone get worse. A custom guard and a natural-looking white filling help keep your teeth strong and healthy.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if I grind my teeth?
Most grinding happens while you sleep. A sore jaw and a dull headache in the morning are common signs. Grinding can also cause earaches and jaw pain, and wears teeth down.
Why does grinding happen?
Stress and anxiety are common causes, but grinding can also come from an uneven bite or missing or crooked teeth. Caffeine and alcohol may make it worse.
Do I need a guard after veneers?
Yes. A night guard is usually given at your finishing visit. Wearing it each night holds your teeth in place and protects your veneers from grinding.
What are white fillings made of?
Composite dental resin, matched to the color of your teeth. It bonds to the tooth, contains no mercury and is BPA-free.
How long do white fillings last?
Most last 5 to 15 years. Like all fillings, they will need to be replaced someday.
Can you replace my old silver fillings?
Yes. Old amalgam fillings are removed behind a barrier that protects you, with strong suction. The teeth are then restored with tooth-colored fillings.
