Are veneers right for me?
Veneers suit worn, chipped, cracked or broken teeth, stains that whitening won't lift, gaps, uneven teeth, and teeth that are too small or too large. Gum disease or decay is treated first, or as part of the plan.
Healing and aftercare
There's no recovery time. Brush twice a day, floss daily, keep up with cleanings, wear your night guard, and avoid biting ice, hard candy or using your teeth as tools.

Porcelain veneers in Shrewsbury, PA
Since 1995, Dr. Haywood and the same hand-craft ceramist have created smiles from Baltimore to York, including for Miss USA contestants, with very few veneers ever failing. Porcelain veneers are thin shells bonded to the front of your teeth to change their color, shape and length. At the Shrewsbury, PA office, usually less than half a millimeter of enamel is shaped, and you wear temporaries in the shape and color you chose until they are right. Veneers in this area range from $1,500 to $3,000 per tooth, often last 15 to 20 years with good care, and monthly plans are available through CareCredit and Cherry.
Benefits
Fix several problems in one treatment.
Natural-looking
Porcelain reflects light like enamel, so veneers look like your own teeth.
Conservative
Usually less than half a millimeter of enamel is removed, and sometimes none at all.
Strong and lasting
Bonded porcelain is as strong as anything in cosmetic dentistry, and veneers often last 15 to 20 years or more.
Stain resistant
Porcelain holds its color far better than natural enamel or bonding.
Designed with you
You choose the color and shape, and wear temporaries first to try it out.

How it works
Preparation and temporaries
A very small amount of the tooth surface is shaped, impressions and photos are taken, and you leave in temporary veneers.
Try-in and bonding
Ten days to four weeks later, the veneers are tried in, approved by you, then bonded and polished.
Finishing visit
A few weeks later: final photos, bite adjustments, polishing and your night guard.

Frequently asked questions
How much do veneers cost?
At Southern York Smile Care in Shrewsbury, PA, porcelain veneers range from $1,500 to $3,000 per tooth, often similar to the price of a crown, depending on the porcelain you choose. Monthly payment plans are available through CareCredit and Cherry.
How long does it take to get veneers?
Porcelain veneers at Southern York Smile Care usually take three visits over a few weeks. The veneers are typically ready ten days to four weeks after your teeth are prepared. If you have a deadline, such as a wedding, tell us and we'll plan around it.
How much of the tooth is removed?
For veneers in Shrewsbury, Dr. Haywood usually removes less than half a millimeter of enamel. For closing gaps or making teeth larger, little or none may be needed, using very thin no-prep porcelain.
Do veneers ruin your teeth?
No. Compared with crowns, the porcelain veneers Dr. Haywood places are very conservative and just as strong.
Do I need braces before veneers?
Usually not. At Southern York Smile Care, a short course of Invisalign first gives a better result with less shaping of your teeth.
How long do veneers last?
Porcelain veneers from Southern York Smile Care often last 15 to 20 years or more with good care: daily brushing and flossing, regular cleanings and wearing your night guard.
Do you offer composite veneers too?
Yes. Southern York Smile Care in Shrewsbury, PA offers porcelain and composite veneers. Composite veneers are built directly on the tooth with tooth-colored resin in a single visit, with no lab stage, which suits one or two teeth or a quicker result. Porcelain is made by hand and fitted at a second visit.
Can I see my new smile before committing?
Yes. Dr. Haywood offers a trial smile, so you can see the shape, size and color of your veneers before anything is final.
Am I a candidate for veneers?
At Southern York Smile Care in Shrewsbury, PA, veneers may be right for you if you want to cover chipped or broken teeth, even out your smile, hide stains that whitening won't lift, or close small gaps. Dr. Haywood checks your gums and teeth first.
